CC Wins Defensive affair
From CC Athletics:
While Drew O’Connell and Matt Overman have yet to establish themselves as household names, they came through big-time for Colorado College on Friday. O’Connell made 28 saves and Overman scored the only goal of the game at 6:01 of the first period, leading the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over the University of Alaska Anchorage in the opener of their two-game series at Sullivan Arena. Overman’s tally, set up by junior center Chad Rau, was the first of the sophomore winger’s collegiate career. O’Connell, meanwhile, posted his first victory of the season as first-place and fourth-ranked CC improved to 9-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and maintained its four-point lead over Denver in the league standings. The junior goaltender, an Anchorage native, made key stops in all three periods to frustrate his hometown Seawolves in a contest that saw Colorado College kill six UAA power plays. Rau extended his point-scoring streak to seven games.
